March28th 2025 – Camping at Durdle Door

Although Durdle Door is less than an hour away from home I’d decided I would stay the weekend at Durdle Door Caravan Park in my campervan to try it out. This wasn’t my only reason for doing this though. I had been forewarned that the cost of parking at Durdle Door (or in Lulworth) was twenty quid a day! What a rip-off, I could stay on the site right next to the car park for not much more and have all the facilities to hand. Being there for the weekend also meant that I could do two walks from here (Durdle Door to Flowers Barrow and Durdle Door to Ringstead) saving the cost of two days parking and fuel travelling twice to get here.

I have stayed on this site before with my family in 2019, in a big campervan we used to have, so I knew how lovely the site was and how good the facilities were.  Another great bonus is that as soon as you walk out of the site you are on the coast path, perfect.  The only bad thing about the site is it has a large Rookery in the camping area, which is fine but it’s bloody noisy at roosting time and at dawn. Oh, and beware of being dumped on from a height if you have a pitch which is under any trees……..which I did!
